My mother couldn't take care of us, we went to Quebec Youth Protection. Then graduated into The Big House My name is Tammy-anne Deslongchamps, I was born and for the most part, raised in Montreal, Quebec. I created The System Kid, in hopes of bringing some attention to the corruption that has always, and continues to take place within the Quebec Youth Protection system (DPJ), as well as the adult
prison systems. Both of these government system claim to rehabilitate their prisoners, I spent a lifetime inside their systems and not once got offered anything close to a rehabilitation option. I found it on my own, in my prison cells, through the prison libraries and many years of falling down. I was raised in The Quebec Youth System from 9 to 16 years old. They "raise" the children to graduate into their adult prison systems. Some manage to get away from their systems just to sit in a life of hell living in society. Not all of us system kids carried onto adult prison. But, life outside the system was a living hell for them. When I speak about the system kids, I am speaking about any child who was in the system younger than 10 years old and spent at least 1 year in their system. These kids did not survive emotionally or mentally. The youth system is a rough, cold place for a little kid to be raised. When I speak about their promised lie of taking care of the children, I'm referring to the fact that none of the children received any therapy after being removed from the abuse at home, we didn't receive a formal education, and mixed in with that was sexual abuse, physical abuse, medication abuse and locking us up in maximum security centers for breaking their internal system rules. They mix the youth offenders with the youth protection children. The adult prison systems can hide themselves a little bit better because they are claiming to be protecting society from the deranged criminal. The truth is that I spent 30 years going in and out of their adult prison systems. I struggled with addiction and did small petty crimes to support my addiction, not once was I ever asked about why I kept coming in and out of the prisons. Studies show that 97% of prison inmates struggle with addiction and their crimes were committed while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. I have been to several adult prisons around Canada. B.C, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec, doing both provincial time and federal time, not once was I ever offered any help with my addictions. The truth be told, the prison system is a booming business, with high paying people, paying high taxes. Money is stolen from the public, in disguise of saying they are investing into the rehabilitation of the inmates to help make society safe. Thankfully, we have been in a major class action lawsuit against the Quebec youth system since 2019, we are suing them for abuse while under their care. I write this with the determination to also bring the adult prison systems to court one day as well. You know who the worse ones are in all these systems? The only ones who could have made a difference in my life as a kid and adult, are The Judges! They were the only ones in the position to ask questions and make decisions about why I spent a lifetime in a court room. Right from the beginning when I was a ward of the court and their property as 9 year old kid, right through to 49 year old. They sit safe, hiding behind judicial immunity, but if I could pick one area to sue, it would be the judges. Thank you for all your support,
Tammy-anne Deslongchamps
