Dear JK, my dearest brother

32 years ago today, we were forced to say goodbye to you forever. I would love to say that time has soften the sadness and the emptiness we had when you left, but this is not what happened. We learn to live without you in our lives, however, there is rarely a day I don’t think about you. Even just for a second. You were only 10 months younger than me, but your wisdom and confidence was beyond your years and you were the wind beneath my wings back then.

It took me years to be ok with the grief of losing you. However, today I stand here, with the strength, wisdom, and kindness, that you had shown me, those many years ago. Today, I live the advice you often told me “Don’t waste time worrying about what others think. Someone will always find something wrong in you. Find the ones who don’t. They matter more. Just do what’s right for you. Do you. « F » them 🥰”.
