techniques à employer. J’accorde une grande importance à la qualité du bijou, elle représ
ente une
combinaison de confort et d’originalité aux formes harmonieuses et colorées. Même après plus de 20 ans, cette matière extraordinaire n’a pas fini de m’étonner. La création de
nouveaux styles demeure un défi perpétuel, pourtant certains modèles demeurent des classiques de
la collection. J’aime partager ma passion, cet échange nourrit ma créativité. »
Manifest Design à été créé à Toronto en 1989, pour ensuite déménager à son studio de Montréal en 1991. La créatrice, Virginie Planas, est née en France, où elle a gradué de l’École des Beaux-Arts. Virginie travaille
en collaboration avec d’autres artistes pour développer sa collection de bijoux en aluminium anodisé. L’aluminium est la principale matière utilisée, sa flexibilité et sa légèreté permettant de créer une infinité de
formes intéressantes, toutes sculptées à la main. L’aluminium anodisé est aussi utilisé en industrie pour fabriquer des pièces d’avion; des boitiers d’ipod ; des
ustensiles de cuisine ainsi que beaucoup d’autres produits. Manifest Design a développé sa propre méthode d’anodisation et l’a adapté à ses besoins. Ce procédé enveloppe l’aluminium d’une épaisse couche protectrice d’oxyde, comme une coquille, dure et
poreuse. Cette couche semblable à du verre pourra être laissée incolore, ou peinte à la main, teinte et
scellée à l’aide de chaleur. Ce matériau devient alors durable, hypoallergénique et résistant à l’eau. Now in English : - ))

Manifest Design was created in 1989 in Toronto, and then moved to a Montréal studio in 1991. Owner, Virginie Planas, was born in France where she graduated from l'École des Beaux-Arts. Virginie works in collaboration with other artists to produce anodized aluminum art jewellery and objects. Aluminum is the main medium used its flexibility and lightness allowing for a variety of interesting hand-sculpted forms. Anodized aluminum is also used in industry to make airplane parts ; i pod cases; cookware and many other products. Manifest Design has developed its own method to adapt this electrochemical treatment to its needs.This process provides the aluminum with a hard porous shell.This glass like coating can then be left clear or, hand-painted, dyed and sealed with heat. Manifest Design sells pieces to boutiques and galleries across Canada, France, England, Spain, Australia and the United States of America. Each year, Manifest Design takes part in various exhibitions such as Salon des Métiers d'Art, held each December in Montreal,One of a Kind,held twice a year at the end of March and the end of November in Toronto and Plein-Art, wich takes place in August in Quebec city.
