DunedinPACE is a epigenetic DNA test that indicates "rate of aging". This is not an indicator of how long you will live but more of a systems overview with respect to healthy aging and expected mortality risks.

The lower the number the better.

We've done 5 tests over nearly 4 years. What we are looking for is a trend over time. Am I trending up or down over time?

Apparently we are doing something that is moving this indicator in the right direction. As of Nov 2024 I'm #140 and Joan Matheson is in the top 50 out of over 3,600 bio-hackers on

Plus all the ones ahead of us are younger. Which is a factor due to how we age in phases (32 and 60 are the known shift points in aging).

Are you keeping up with the youngsters these days? :-)

I was recently reminded of the significant amount of BS advice that is available on the inter webs. Raech Geneva Rose thanks Raech!!

How does the average Joe/Jane deal with all the potentially bad info and people/grifters offering advice?

Since I'm not educated in the field of bio-science, I recognize that my own weakness and biases could easily lead me astray.

How can one move forward? who should I listen to?

I "follow" more than a few of the top researchers in the areas of bio-science, often related to longevity. With longevity it's also important to understand a bit about diseases caused by a variety of pathogens. I also follow top medial specialists, board certified in their specialty. You don't ask a Cardiologist for help with a viral infection, you go to a Virologist or Infectious Disease Dr..

One of the many good people I pay attention to is Matt Healy a Computational Biologist at Enveda Biosciences.

One of his recent posts outlines a process anyone can follow if they are looking for "truth" as opposed to finding info that confirms their biases.

And I quote;

"Here are a few criteria by which I evaluate sources about COVID. Some of these criteria require that you have relevant expertise but some can be applied by any person:
- 1. Has the source published articles or posts whose details indicate the author has actual technical expertise and isn't using big words without understanding them.
- 2. Has the source published articles or posts in which the author clearly states what the author DOES NOT KNOW; a crucial aspect of true expertise is knowing one's limitations.
- 3. Has the source or the author published anything about the subject at hand BEFORE THE SUBJECT HAD A HIGH PROFILE IN THE NEWS; for instance has the author written about Ukraine before Russia invaded that country or written about Infectious Disease Research before 2020.
- 4. Do other highly credible sources cite other publications or posts by the author.
- 5. If the source is a non-specialist news organization, how has the source handled stories on other topics about which you have actual expertise.
- 6. Does this source have a detectable agenda such as a political viewpoint, commercial interest."
