Sixty years of memories, traditions and community is something worth celebrating.

I was pleased to join members of the German Canadian Benevolent Society as they marked their 60th anniversary - a milestone that reflects decades of friendship, volunteerism and a shared commitment to bringing people together.

For generations, the Society has been a place where people have gathered, celebrated their heritage, and built lasting connections. In a time when community matters more than ever, organizations like this remind us of the importance of belonging and looking out for one another.

Thank you to the volunteers, board members and members, past and present, whose dedication has helped the Society thrive for six decades. It was a pleasure to present a certificate in recognition of this remarkable milestone.

This morning, I was pleased to join members of Hamilton’s Filipino community for the raising of the Philippine flag at City Hall as we officially recognized Philippine Heritage Month.

Thank you to Mariewin De Guzman Lorenzo, the Hamilton Philippine Heritage Festival organizers, and everyone who joined us for this special celebration.

To everyone celebrating, I wish you a joyful and meaningful Philippine Heritage Month.

At FCM, I had the opportunity to connect with municipal leaders from across the country and have productive conversations with a number of federal Ministers about affordability, housing, community safety, infrastructure, economic development, and the investments our city needs to keep building on our momentum. There are many positive conversations underway, and I’m optimistic about what’s ahead for our city.

Thank you to Councillor for her leadership on the FCM Board, and to Team Hamilton for their hard work, collaboration, and commitment throughout the conference.

Hamilton’s voice is being heard. We’ll continue working with our federal and provincial partners to secure the investments and opportunities our city deserves.

I look forward to building on this work in the months ahead.
