Climate solutions are not built in isolation. They are built through trust, dialogue, and communities having a real voice in how projects move forward.
We’re excited to share Planetary’s 2025 Community Engagement Report, a visual story of what it means to build coastal OAE solutions with communities across Tufts Cove in Nova Scotia and the Elizabeth River in Virginia.
In 2025, Planetary held over 150 community engagement touchpoints and directly engaged more than 200 organizations and 600 community members through site visits, tea-table discussions, open houses, community gatherings, and technical forums. More importantly, community input helped shape real project decisions, including lobster larvae ecotoxicity testing in Tufts Cove and oyster monitoring priorities in the Elizabeth River.
The report is visually distinctive, developed through an Indigenous lens, and shaped by the creative work of El’taqati’kw Digital Studio of the Mi'kmaq Confederacy of PEI.
At its core, this report is about more than engagement. It is about partnership, accountability, and the belief that durable climate solutions must be built with trust, respect, and community leadership.

Last week at Tufts Cove, we hosted 100+ people on site in a single day as part of the Carbon to Sea Initiative convening and additional site tours. Academia, industry, non-profits, buyers, and ecosystem partners all in one place, engaging directly with ocean alkalinity enhancement.
And that was just one day. Across the week, we welcomed even more visitors through multiple site tours, with teams coming in to see the work up close.
Behind the scenes, our ops team made it look effortless. Multiple tours, tight schedules, constant movement, and still a thoughtful, high-quality experience for every single person who walked through.
These moments matter. Not just because of the scale, but because this is how a field grows. People seeing the work up close. Asking hard questions. Building trust. This is what ecosystem building actually looks like.
Grateful for the team that made it happen and everyone who showed up to engage with the work.
Thanks and congratulations to Carbon to Sea Initiative.

The world often talks about carbon removal and decarbonization as if they’re two separate paths. But in practice, they work best when they work together.
At Planetary, we know that good carbon removal depends on effective decarbonization. Every choice in our operations, from shipping routes to construction materials, shapes the impact we’re able to have.
We wrote a short blog to explore how these two climate strategies support each other, and why this relationship matters more than ever.
You can read our blog post here >> https://www.planetarytech.com/decarbonization-carbon-removal-a-relationship-worth-getting-right/
Today we celebrate a Win For All moment.
We’re honoured to share that Planetary has been named one of only two XFACTOR winners in the $100M XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition.
This $1M award recognizes our work to restore the ocean’s natural ability to absorb carbon dioxide through seawater restoration, an approach to carbon removal that supports marine life, improves water quality, and integrates with existing infrastructure.
But this moment isn’t just about us. This moment is about what becomes possible when climate solutions are grounded in partnership, trust, and teamwork. We share this milestone with the coastal communities, regulators, industry partners, and researchers who’ve helped shape every step of our journey.
A healthier ocean means a healthier planet, and we’re just getting started.

Urban trails aren’t just paths, they’re powerful community connectors.
In our most recent episode of Breaking Ground, Making Waves, our VP of Community Engagement Diana Philip sat down with Kindra McDonald Greene and Morgan Willett of the The Elizabeth River Trail Foundation, two passionate community leaders reimagining what an urban green space can be.
From glow-in-the-dark trail sections to community-driven programming and climate resilience, their work goes far beyond recreation. It's about creating access, equity, and environmental stewardship in the heart of Norfolk, VA.
