Spending time creating plans for several public art projects for 2026. Finishing off a couple of new fiction novels that we have been working on. But between the hard work, it's time to create some new contemporary art. This one is called “Necessary Madness” carved out of cherry wood, it is going to look very cool.

This is my first sculpture of 2026. The design is based on a novel idea I have been researching for about a year. It is a fantasy fiction novel about a race of beings known as the Wind Whisperers, half-human and half-insect. In this case, half the lepidopteran superfamily Papilionoidea and the human. Hand-carved out of Butternut wood and designed to last years.

Each of my carvings comes with a 50-cent coin from the Royal Canadian Mint built into the sculpture to date the artwork. Plus, a small time capsule which are hidden behind wax seals at the back of the sculpture

This week, we had a great time in the studio creating ten new whimsical castle designs using our scrap wood. We'll share photos soon, but for now, here are two of the designs. We keep all of our scrap wood, including pieces from hardwood flooring and Cottonwood Bark, to create our whimsical art. It's all about the fun of creating.
