Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend the concert ~ Through our own eyes~ by the Accord ensemble and it reminded me of how beautiful choral singing is, not only because of the sound it creates, but also because of the amazing sense of community that fills the atmosphere.
If you're looking for community and connection, maybe consider joining a choir. Don't feel ready for that yet? That's ok too. If you ever need a little guidance, I'm here to help.
Reach out to book your first voice lesson with me, and be sure to catch the Accord Ensemble at their next performance!

Don't skip your vocal warm ups, do this instead! Part 1/3
This one is about breathing, something we do every day that comes naturally for us. Using that breath intentionally creates a strong foundation for our singing.
Types of breath we practiced today:
1. Belly breathing
~ Taking deep breaths, imagine the air filling up your belly like a balloon, keeping the rest of your body relaxed
2. Endurance breath
~ Breathe in for a count of 4, breathe out for a count of 8
3. Sh sh shhh
~ Engaging your diaphragm and waking up the muscles we need for support
Stay tuned for more warm up techniques in part 2!

How do our bodies mirror nature? We breathe like the wind, we move and shift like the trees through the seasons, we bloom and grow like flowers each spring.
Singing is all about how we use our bodies to reflect the movement of nature. Support, practice, trial and error. We break and regrow every day. Our bodies are familiar with this process. The best thing we can do is support it and not force ourselves to move into a phase we aren't ready for yet.
If you're ready to begin moving as nature does and learning what that looks like in signing, you're in the right place!
