Stuart Bentley

I am only a month away from driving to Vancouver to perform at the Vancouver Fringe. I will be presenting my autobiographical show, Taking it ALL Off!, which will be playing at the Zameen Art House for 8 shows from September 4th to the 14th.

Originally subtitled "One man's quest for redemption from the weight loss merry-go-round", the show has grown and evolved since it was first conceived 14 years ago to embrace far more than the day to day struggles with yo-yo weight loss. It is an unvarnished journey through life and all of it's unexpected twists and turns from triumph to tragedy and back again.

This is the first show I have written for the Fringe. I performed it in a very rough/workshop version last summer at the Calgary Fringe, then polished it up, worked with my friend and director Christopher J. Gamble to block it and refine the performance, and took it to the Kelowna Fringe in March, where it was very well received.

I have since had to re-write the last few minutes of the show to acknowledge the profound change that took place in my life in May, with the passing of Laura, my partner of 41 years, following her 11 year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. I am proud of what this show has become ❤

There are lot's of laughs to go with the more poignant moments and I think it brings people to an encouraging and hopeful place by the end.

I will be baring my soul... not my body. Ain't nobody needs to see that LOL!
