Throughout the entire process, I thoroughly enjoyed working with the recipient of this piece, who commissioned a sculpture of her beloved chestnut horse she had lost. Having held onto his tail and mane for keepsake, like most of us equestrians do, she found the right moment in time to honour Tasso. Leanne Foxley affectionately nicknamed her gelding as “Fabio”, which inspired the length of the mane and tail, ultimately leaving the decision to maintain or trim them to her discretion. As the recipient unveiled the sculpture, I witnessed tears of happiness in her eyes, knowing I had fulfilled my artistic vision. Leanne confirmed that they were indeed tears of joy. 🤲🐎❤️

This commissioned 🐎 clay sculpture will be ready for the owner to receive in a day or two. I am pleased with how the mane is taking shape and will be finished this afternoon, with the tail to be completed to finalize the sculpture.

A work in progress but it’s heading to the kiln tomorrow for its final firing before receiving the forelock, mane and tail. Red iron oxide was chosen and applied to resemble the “chestnut” gelding, then wax was applied to protect the socks and blaze from the oxide creeping in. Check back in next week for the final results.
