Edmonton Raging Grannies

is singing protest songs, often with the lyrics written by members of the local group. The Grannies do not have an over-arching organizational structure, but are known to work together at major events and host a bi-annual National un-conference and an annual Western Canadian un-conference. There are currently four gaggles in Alberta including Calgary, Central Alberta, Edmonton and Medicine Hat. The Edmonton Raging Grannies regularly attend protests throughout the city. They have also performed at local schools and media stations. They have hosted two un-conventions in the city. One of the Raging Grannies largest protests was regarding the privatization of health care in Alberta. The group became involved in writing thousands of postcards to Premier Ralph Klein as well as attending and singing at public protests.
