The causal agent, Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV), is a variant of avian orthoavulavirus 1, a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus. Transmission occurs by exposure to faecal and other excretions from infected birds, and through contact with contaminated food, water, equipment, and clothing. Signs of infection with NDV vary greatly depending on factors such as the strain of virus and genotypes, age and species of the host. HRPro® NDV AB ELISA is designed to detect presence of antibodies against NDV in chicken serum using indirect ELISA.
