Between Calgary and Fort McMurray, I had an opportunity to reflect on our National Day of Truth and Reconcilation. T&R is every day, all year.

Thinking about the residents, staff and visitors of Jasper as they have dispersed to centres in BC and Alberta. Hoping today’s predicted rainfall will help diminish the blaze.

Unfortunately we were not able to secure a seat for Calgary-Elbow. While the results were not as close as in the adjacent ridings of Acadia and Glenmore, it was a very close race as well in Elbow. Congrats to the NDP’s successful new MLA Samir Kayande. I know you will work diligently and be present for the great residents in Calgary-Elbow! Thanks too to Alberta Party candidate Kerry Cundal, who also worked hard and is a class act. Thanks to my team of volunteers and supporters. We put it all on the table and came so close! And, finally, thanks to the many many voters in Calgary-Elbow who showed faith in me and did not “lend me your vote” but gave it to me unreservedly!

Was joined by my wife Mirella to vote at the Calgary-Elbow advance voting station in Marda Loop.
