I am drained, angry, and emotionally overwhelmed... Covid life... Hard personal deaths & near deaths and then the state of the world....
I'm angry that any human is made to feel worthless or less-than because of the color of their skin. I'm devastated that people are genuinely scared for their lives because of the colour of their skin and interactions with law enforcement.
I'm horrified that current world "leaders" can 'Stoke the fires of white supremacy & racism', not to mention misogyny & elitism while stomping on free speech, and yet people still support them and vote them in office. It's like the lesson of Hi**er taught us nothing...
I'm worried kids see that all as okay... But hopeful that new leaders rise & grow out of these circumstances.
I'm happily a Canadian, living in Canada but I understand that bigotry, hatred and racism are everywhere. We ALL have to do better.
I hope however, that people watch what’s happening in the US and look at themselves and learn & think on how they can prevent seeds of hatred from growing. How they can make a difference and do better.
I am scared as a spouse to a LEO, friend to many and former one myself that hatred and fear can manifest so violently against a certain group of people. Whether it's the colour of their skin... Or their profession...
I believe fundamentally that most people are good, and am hopeful that the leaders of tomorrow can move forward in positive ways... But I think we all have a part.
We all have to do what we can to pull out the best in the people around us... Challenge ourselves to grow & learn to be better.
My heart hurts for our world... But I hope that good will always outnumber the bad. I'm hopeful we can build a better tomorrow.... But I'm incredibly sad about where we are right now.
