What a great day for sport in Calgary.

Today’s Calgary Booster Club media event was a fantastic celebration of excellence, leadership, and impact across our sporting community. We were thrilled to have most of this year’s major award winners with us, along with a strong turnout from local Calgary media.

There was a real buzz in the room as we recognized some truly outstanding individuals and shared their stories with the city. Events like this are a reminder that sport is about so much more than results. It is about commitment, character, community, and the people who help lift others along the way.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us today, helped make the event such a success, and continues to support amateur sport in Calgary.

Something big is coming for Calgary sport.

On March 25 at McMahon Stadium, the Calgary Booster Club will announce the recipients of several of our most prestigious honours — including Sportsperson of the Year, recognizing someone who has dedicated 25+ years of service to sport in Calgary.

We will also reveal our Female Athlete of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year — and this year’s recipients have something special in common.

Both proudly represented Canada at the MilanoCortina2026 Olympic Games.

Join us as we celebrate the athletes, leaders, and community builders who continue to shape Calgary’s incredible sporting landscape.

Perry Cavanagh was a key leader in Calgary’s hockey scene for decades. He was named an Honoured Athletic Leader by the Calgary Booster Club in 2018 and served as the chairman of Sport Calgary from 2015 to 2019.
