Today's feature is a beaded yarrow necklace. It's made fully with stainless steel findings: the chain, wire guardian, lobster clasp and jumprings. It's backed with deer hide, beaded on velvet fabric and edged with fire polished glass rondelle beads. The composition shows a delicate cluster of yarrow flowers and leaves to frame them. This is part of my Athyrium collection, which is inspired by plants and medicines from my home in Mi'kma'ki, and pulls from old style Mi'kmaq beadwork I've seen photos of in archive.

This year was the first year I wasn't at the Sitansisk Powwow in like 5 years. I was feeling pretty sad about it and knew I was gunna be missing everyone and the vibes. I been seeing all the Double Curve Media videos and it's honestly so nice. I'm super grateful for their team covering so much of the powwow!

Indian Island FN also had a celebration day today for NIPD and I was hoping to come too. I been making an effort to come to more community events when I can. It's pretty hard being this far from NB now though! Seemed like they all had a nice day ☺️

I had two mawio'mis here in Moh'kinsstis this weekend, which was nice! I didn't know what to expect, but I wanted to wear my peaked cap while vending to rep a bit of home. It sparked a few conversations and I met some nice folks. Always nice seeing displays of other cultures and getting to learn about em 💕
