Today is Earth Day! A day to bring awareness to the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability for a better planet and future.

ETRO continuously looks for opportunities to build more sustainably, including our 837 Beatty Street project. This historic gem isn’t just getting a facelift; it’s undergoing a sustainable transformation with our teams optimizing off-site prefabrication in order to reduce waste and boost efficiency.

But sustainability isn’t just about what we build; it’s how we operate. With help from our in-house ReThink Sustainability Committee, we’re implementing initiatives like the electrification of our fleet.

We acknowledge that there’s still lots more to do, and we’re committed to doing what we can to make the Earth a better place!

One of our core values at ETRO is to disrupt how we build today, and be leaders of change in the industry. This includes actively promoting a more inclusive and fair work environment, both within our own workplace and across the broader construction sector.

With VRCA’s launch of their Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, our team is excited to be a part of this newly formed committee with our People + Culture Manager, Shannon Callender, sitting on the committee!

Together, our aim is to collaborate effectively in eliminating unconscious biases and embracing diversity. We look forward to partnering with fellow committee members to drive positive change within the industry.

Construction has transcended the mere creation of buildings and infrastructure; it’s now an exciting journey into innovation and value creation, propelled by the fourth industrial revolution. Amidst the challenges of soaring construction and labour costs, the industry is undergoing dynamic transformations, presenting exciting opportunities for organizations daring enough to embrace change.

As an advocate for embracing and facilitating that transformation, ETRO’s Founder and President, Maierle, will be discussing the Future of Construction at the Vancouver Real Estate Forum on April 3rd!

Join Mike and fellow panelists Sasha Faris (), Christopher Mullins (Altus Group), Jeannine Martin (), moderated by Ashley Willard Bauman (Beyond the Buildings), as questions around the challenges of increased construction and labour costs, and technological advancements in the industry will be discussed.
