PREP AND PEP ARE NOT THE SAME THING
PrEP and PEP are different prevention methods for HIV/AIDS. PrEP is taken before exposure and is used by people at ongoing risk. It works as daily or scheduled protection. PEP, on the other hand, is emergency treatment taken after possible exposure and must be started within 72 hours and taken for 28 days.
Confusing both can reduce protection if the wrong one is used at the wrong time. If someone has a recent exposure, urgent medical review is important to ensure the correct medication is given at the right time.
