Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, led the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation participating in the 2026 Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, held in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa said Bahrain’s participation in the forum reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its engagement in global economic forums and advancing strategic partnerships that support sustainable economic growth and create opportunities for cooperation and investment.
The minister said Bahrain continues to strengthen its position as a regional centre for business and investment through policies aimed at supporting economic competitiveness and investment, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa and the accompanying delegation attended the forum’s main session, during which His Excellency President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation delivered the keynote address in the presence of heads of state, government officials, and business leaders.
The minister said the forum provides a platform for exchanging views on global economic developments and discussing challenges and opportunities facing international markets amid rapid economic changes, contributing to enhanced cooperation among governments, the private sector, and international financial institutions.
The Bahraini delegation included Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce; Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation; and Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company.
The Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum is an annual event that brings together heads of state, ministers, and business leaders from around the world to discuss global economic issues, investment, and international trade.

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications organised the "Cyclethon" event to mark World Bicycle Day, observed annually on June 3, in cooperation with the Bahrain Cycling Association and the Al Haraka Baraka Movement.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, said the ministry continues to implement projects and initiatives to develop infrastructure that supports cycling. These efforts include expanding dedicated cycling lanes and enhancing their integration within new urban and housing developments, contributing to a safe and encouraging environment for bicycle use and promoting a culture of sustainable mobility in the Kingdom.
The minister highlighted the cycling track in Madinat Salman, which was completed efficiently and within a record timeframe, noting that it represents one of the Kingdom’s leading examples of modern infrastructure supporting sustainable mobility. He said the track was designed in accordance with international best practices in safety, sustainability and quality standards, ensuring a safe and integrated experience for all age groups while strengthening community connectivity and encouraging healthier and more sustainable lifestyles in line with Bahrain’s urban development objectives.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed added that World Bicycle Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the growing role of bicycles as a practical and healthy mode of transport and to encourage the adoption of more sustainable mobility patterns, supporting Bahrain’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
