বাংলাদেশের চিকিৎসাবিজ্ঞানে এক আস্থার নাম অধ্যাপক ডা. সামন্ত লাল সেন। আগুনে দগ্ধ রোগীদের চিকিৎসায় যিনি এশিয়া মহাদেশের অন্যতম অভিজ্ঞ বিশেষজ্ঞ এবং শেখ হাসিনা জাতীয় বার্ন ইনস্টিটিউটের প্রধান সমন্বয়ক।

আজ মাইলস্টোন স্কুলের বহু কোমলমতি শিশু দগ্ধ হয়ে মৃত্যুর সঙ্গে লড়ছে। এই সংকটময় মুহূর্তে জাতিকে বারবার বাঁচিয়ে তোলা মানুষটি আমাদের সবার চেয়ে এখন ওই শিশুদের বেশি প্রয়োজন।

ডা. সামন্ত লাল স্যার বর্তমানে কারাগারে বন্দি। আমরা অনুরোধ জানাই, তাঁকে অন্তত মানবিক কারণে, প্যারোলে মুক্তি দেওয়া হোক—যাতে তিনি এই ছোট্ট শিশুদের চিকিৎসা করতে পারেন। দেশের এই জাতীয় সংকটে তাঁকেই সামনে থাকতে হবে।

চিকিৎসা শেষ হলে, প্রয়োজন হলে আইন আবার নিজের পথেই চলবে। কিন্তু এখন—এই মুহূর্তে—উনি বাংলাদেশের জন্য একটি অপরিহার্য ভরসার প্রতীক।
