সামাজিক মাধ্যমে একটি দাবি বেশ ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছে। দাবি হলো, অক্সফোর্ড ইউনিয়নে জুলাই আন্দোলন নিয়ে হাসনাত আব্দুল্লাহ ও সাদিক কায়েমদের অংশগ্রহণ নাকি কোনো অফিসিয়াল অনুষ্ঠান ছিল না। তারা নাকি নিজেরাই টাকা দিয়ে হল ভাড়া করে অনুষ্ঠান করেছে, তারপর সেটাকে বড় কিছু হিসেবে প্রচার করা হয়েছে।

এই তত্ত্বের পক্ষে সবচেয়ে বড় যুক্তি হিসেবে দেখানো হচ্ছে যে অক্সফোর্ড ইউনিয়নের ওয়েবসাইটে “Private Hire” অপশন আছে। অর্থাৎ টাকা দিলেই নাকি যে কেউ সেখানে অনুষ্ঠান করতে পারে।
