In Panchagarh, Bangladesh, a 28-year-old housewife was gang-raped after being forced off an autorickshaw while her two-year-old son was held at knifepoint. The incident occurred late on July 4 in a tea garden area of Sadar Upazila. Locals found the unconscious woman and alerted police via the national emergency helpline (999). She and her son were rescued and hospitalized. The victim filed a case under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act, naming four suspects (Johnny Islam, Biplob Hossain, Moksedul Islam, and Sadek Islam), with two others unidentified. Police arrested the four suspects and are investigating. The woman reported being threatened and assaulted by six men, some known to her, and demanded justice amid pressure to settle out of court. Medical and legal procedures are ongoing.
