At the CPA Australia City Taxation Discussion Group, we recognise the incredible impact volunteers make in strengthening our professional and business community.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œYour Year to Volunteer,โ€ celebrates those who generously give their time, knowledge, and experience โ€” while also encouraging others to discover the value and purpose that volunteering can bring.

Volunteering is more than simply giving back. Itโ€™s about creating connections, supporting growth, sharing knowledge, and building a stronger community together. Through mentoring, education, networking, and collaboration, volunteers help create opportunities that leave a lasting impact on professionals, students, and businesses alike.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated volunteers:

"Serving people means understanding problems well โ€” and building the right foundations to solve them"

This afternoon we gathered again for another engaging CPA Australia City Taxation Discussion Group - CPA Australia session โ€” a great opportunity for practitioners to connect, exchange insights, and stay sharp on the issues that matter most to our clients.

Todayโ€™s discussion centred on Getting the Risk Assessment Right โ€“ The Foundation of Your AML Program. The session took a practical, real-world approach to how firms can better understand and manage AML risk, reinforcing how critical it is to get the foundations right to support effective decision-making.

A big thank you to our speakers Suelen McCallum, Partner, Angela Bensemann, Senior Manager, Caryl Dias, Manager and Jovi F., Supervisor from DVT Mcleods for sharing their insights and practical experiences.

This session was proudly organised by Teddy Kosasih, Partner at MaxGrowth HQ, and Henry Kwok, Partner at DVT Mcleods โ€” with the shared goal of creating a forum where practitioners can openly explore complex issues and strengthen the quality of advice we deliver.

Thank you to all members who attended and contributed to the discussion, and to CPA Australia for providing the venue and supporting the professional community.

If you value practical insights and meaningful discussion, weโ€™d love to see you at the next session. Let's Together We Make a Difference.
