Our aim is to empower individuals of all abilities to become actively involved in their community. We achieve this by offering personalised service to people with disabilities, their families and support networks and by encouraging social inclusion through disability services organisations. An inclusive community offers many benefits for all people, including improved physical and mental wellness,

If you’re a person with a disability, support worker, service provider or organisation, we highly recommend checking out www.EverydayHarm.org.au.

🌟 In addition to being a great resource for people in the disability sector, we’re also proud to have two of the people we support on the project's Co-design group 🌟

The Preventing Everyday Harm Project is a research initiative that explores the subtle, everyday interactions in support settings that can leave people with disability feeling disrespected, unheard, offended, or hurt.

These aren’t dramatic acts of abuse, but small moments that accumulate over time and shape people’s experiences of support.

It has been a few days since the tragic events on Sunday evening at Bondi Beach, and many people are still trying to process what happened.

We are deeply saddened, and our hearts are heavy. We extend our heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones, and our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected, including families, friends, first responders, and the Australian Jewish community.

Bondi Beach is a place many people associate with joy, beauty, and connection. That such violence occurred there is heartbreaking.

Please continue to take care of yourself and those around you. Support each other, and reach out if you need help.

🌟 Some reflections from our CEO, Leanne Pearman on the 2025 International SRV Conference in Nova Scotia 🌟

A couple of weeks ago, I attended and presented at the 2025 International SRV Conference in Nova Scotia, which was held on the ancestral lands of the Mi’kmaq people. It brought together people from around the world, with a strong contingent of Australians in attendance, who care deeply about dignity, inclusion, and the value of all people, particularly those who have been historically segregated, isolated and devalued.

One of the most moving presentations was from Rodney Mills, a man from Brisbane, who presented “His Good Life”. This was not only a personal story, it was a celebration. Rodney generously shared how, despite his experience of significant social devaluation, he is self-directing and living his own life with purpose and meaning. Rodney’s story was brought to life with the support of his family, friends, team, and support workers, who continue to walk alongside him, guided by SRV principles.

There was something very powerful in people coming together, from across the globe, to support and demonstrate their commitment to inclusion, especially when the world is so unsettled, and where people at risk of devaluation, exploitation and abuse is higher than ever.

My favourite Maori saying:

“He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.”
“What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.”
