UWA recently announced an exciting new partnership with Amazon to support the Corridors for Carnaby's conservation project, led by Professor Kingsley Dixon.

The project aims to help protect one of Western Australia's most iconic birds- the endangered Carnaby's Cockatoo-by restoring and reconnecting habitat across the state.

For many WA alumni, spotting a flock of Carnaby's overhead is a familiar sight. This world-first initiative will help ensure future generations can continue to experience these remarkable birds in the wild.

It's also a great example of how UWA researchers are working with industry and community to create real-world impact for conservation.

🖤💛❤️Celebrating 50 Years of NAIDOC.

This NAIDOC Week, we're proud to celebrate UWA grad, Nola Earshaw MSW '12, a Wardandi and Ballardong Noongar woman whose career has been dedicated to supporting children, families and communities.

Nola reflects on the welcoming community she found at UWA and how her time at the School of Indigenous Studies became a turning point that led to a rewarding career in social work.

Her advice to future students is simple: embrace the journey, build strong connections and make the most of every opportunity. Education has the power to open doors and create lasting change.

This NAIDOC Week, we're proud to celebrate UWA grad, Daniel Hunt MBBS '11, DMD '16, a Jaru and Indijibarndi doctor whose career is making a real difference across Western Australia.

Daniel reflects on the friendships and sense of belonging he found at UWA, describing the School of Indigenous Studies as a place that became a home away from home. He says this year's "50 Years of Deadly" theme is about celebrating the strength, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while inspiring the next generation.

His story is a reminder of the lifelong impact a supportive community can have.

🌊Australia's oceans support our environment, economy, communities and way of life- but how do we make informed decisions about protecting them for future generations?

Researchers from UWA are helping answer that question.

Dr.Tai Loureiro recently contributed to a national roadmap design to improve how Australia understands and manages its oceans by bringing together information on ecosystem health, community wellbeing, governance and economic activity.

The goal? Better evidence, better decisions and more sustainable future for the oceans.

It's a reminder that understanding the ocean isn't just about what happens beneath the surface. It's also about understanding the connections between people, communities, industries and the marine environments we depend on.

💙As an island nation, Australia's future is closely tied to the health of the ocean.
