Does anyone else think deep green is basically a neutral at this point? Because tell me why I rolled out the Charleston Rug from and suddenly my whole lounge feels brand new.
We’ve been in our home for almost 7 years now, so naturally I’ve hit that stage where every room starts feeling a little tired. Normally I’d be reaching for paint samples, but knowing we’re building again soon, I’m trying to be more mindful with the updates we make.
So instead of renovating the whole space, I swapped the rug and honestly… the difference is wild. The deep green adds so much warmth coming into winter, while still working beautifully with all the neutral tones throughout our home.
I’ve always dreamed of doing deep green carpet in the theatre room of our next build because there’s something so cosy and enveloping about it… but I love that this gives the same feeling and I can take it with us to the next house too.

The garden chronicles continue. At this point, I'm beginning to think I should just post my garden all day everyday 😅 🙃 you all seem to like it a lot....
The evolution of our troppo garden corner! The stones are a cost-effective way to create an impact and a safe zone for the fire pit. However, after 4 years, the stones needed to be refreshed, and we wanted to add a bit more warmth to the backyard! 🌴
Now, with Finn on the move and putting EVERYTHING in his mouth, we wanted to create a space where we could all sit and relax Summer or Winter. We just need to find a fire pit solution for the deck... Maybe it's a tile, or a put with legs, we will suss it out!
• Decking; Stringybark Hardwood (DIY)
• Plants; Golden Cane Palm, Ginger Lily, Xanadu, (Neighbours Palms - Alexandria Palms, we think 🤔)
• Lawn; Sir Walter Buffalo
• Garden Bed Dimensions; 800mm wide

There is nothing like a few days away to get you thinking about more projects... We said we were done out here, but we've decided we want to make some changes to our pit! 🔥
We are thinking of a deck!! Maybe a gorgeous spotted gum like our pool shed and outdoor kitchen or a dark Eko Deck to contrast against all the white? What would you do?
I'm also thinking about a star Jasmine wall against the pool for more greenery! 🍃
We love the stones, and they have served us well, however we spend so much time out here and Oliver loves to play Bob the builder with them and as time goes on they aren't as white as they used to be!!

A month before Finn arrived, we set up this built-in Zurich Parcel Box from and planted the tropical garden bed of my dreams.
We picked a very simple facade design when building as we built in an established suburb, and this was our first build! Our home is nestled between homes built in the 70s so the red brick fits right in.
We never had a vision for the front yard, so we haphazardly planted a number of natives and it always looked so average.
Now we have an easy to maintain garden with a point of interest besides to 200sqm of lawn 😂
