And another.

It was reported to me that two Muscovy ducks had ‘appeared’ at Blackburn Lake Sanctuary mid last week, presumed dumped.

As I was unwell was unable to head there at that time which I advised the person reporting it to me, but was relieved to be contacted today by a kind family who had picked up one of them. The poor duck had been on the wooden boardwalk with a dog looking like about to chase her. Very friendly with clipped wings, she was ill-equipped to survive in the wild and as she was now alone without the companion she was spotted with last week, assuming that the other hadn’t.

The family brought her to me. She seemed so happy to be with humans and got excited when she spotted my other ducks. A quick check over revealed she was healthy though hungry. Once I had settled her safely in, I headed to Blackburn Lake in the hope that I could find her friend that had been dumped with her.

Sadly despite doing a full lap of the lake and searching every boardwalk I could as well as scouring the shores and water, there was no sign of it. Hoping that perhaps someone has picked him/her up and they are safe though I suspect a fox may have beaten us to it. One person reported seeing just the one duck on Monday, so looks like it went missing before then.

If anyone does know anything about these two, would love to hear from you.
