We loved reading this article about helping young people explore new foods and build confidence around eating. π
π₯¦π₯
This is very similar to the approach we believe in during our cooking sessions.
Food should never feel forced or overwhelming β it should be explored through curiosity, participation, routine, and positive experiences.
Many participants start with a very limited range of foods or feel unsure about trying new ingredients. Through cooking, touching, smelling, preparing, and sharing meals together, we often see confidence slowly grow over time.
Sometimes it starts with tasting a new vegetable.
Sometimes it starts with simply having it on the plate.
And sometimes, a participant who once only ate plain foods is suddenly excited to cook something completely new.
Small steps can create big changes. π

Over the past few weeks, our participants have been cooking two very special recipesβ¦ both inspired by meals close to Liviaβs heart π§π·π
These are the kinds of dishes she grew up eating with her family back in Brazil β the same ones she now cooks at home with her own family, and now, together with Davide, weβre passing them on to our participants π¨βπ³β¨
More than just recipes, these sessions are about:
β
Learning real, everyday cooking skills
β
Building confidence in the kitchen
β
Sharing stories, culture, and connection through food
Watching participants recreate these meals, add their own touch, and grow more independent each time is what itβs all about π±
Food connects us β and these moments in the kitchen mean so much more than whatβs on the plate π
