Sand Tray therapy is part of our play therapy program, involving the unfolding and processing of conscious, subconscious and interpersonal difficulties. Utilising specific sand tray materials, we have a non verbal medium of communication, led by the client and facilitated by a clinician. The sand tray allows for both control and containment for the client so emotionally charged issues can be explored in a safe space with the distance of metaphor.
We also use the sand tray in more practical skills training, unpacking social difficulties and teaching social and emotional regulation skills through play in more structured sand tray sessions.
