The Soft Machine Productions & Flesh Rituals & Siren Songs was born to create an un/holy union of underground artists from the music & performing arts scenes across electronica, industrial, gothic, alternative & metal, BD5M, burlesque, aerials, flow arts, the taboo & the er0tic.
It’s also an esoteric container - it’s my belief that there is true magic in creative arts, in s.xuality & the er0t1c arts & the ineffable effects these creations can have in the world. As both audience and artists, when we choose to put our energy & belief into a thing, that things becomes a talisman, a focus of power and intention.
Our rituals are a form of rebellion, of unashamed joy, defiance & power. The event is a living, breathing talisman, a vessel that while ephemeral, holds us & is carried with us.
I don’t believe in the way censorship plays out in our society; I disagree passionately with the idea that the shadows are inherently harmful, that s.xuality should be hidden & a source of shame. I believe in nuance, in complexity & the realness of the human experience in all it’s varied beauty & ugliness. I believe that education, not censorship is the way to make a better world, & having the bravery & heart to have the hard conversations with others, including those we love and care for.
