We have this amazing program starting this month. Welcome has engaged with 4 highly respected employers throughout Launceston to facilitate placements, industry tours, and participate in information sessions.

Because these programs are delivered in collaboration with Welcome, TasTAFE, and the hospitality industry, the employment outcomes are much higher than just applying through Seek.

Passing the Baton: Welcome’s New Ambassador

At our 2025 AGM, we marked an important moment in the life of Welcome Cultural Services. After many years of dedicated service, our long-standing Ambassador, Dr the Hon. Frank Madill, officially stepped down from his ambassadorial role. Frank has been a steadfast advocate for our organisation, our communities, and our mission—and his contribution will remain an enduring part of Welcome’s story. We extend our deepest gratitude for his commitment, wisdom, and friendship over the years.

We are equally excited to announce that the baton has now been passed to Deputy Mayor Hugh McKenzie, who will step into the role of Welcome’s new Ambassador. Hugh is a well-respected community leader with strong ties across Northern Tasmania, serving as President of the Northern Suburbs Community Centre and holding leadership roles in a range of local community service organisations. His passion for inclusive, thriving communities aligns deeply with our purpose.
