Like many, I viewed absinthe with a mixture of fascination and distrust. Conflicting opinions abounded as to its effects and history. Was it dangerous? How is supposed to be served? How come it's everywhere, yet supposed to be prohibited? By what standards can anything half-seen or half-known, be judged?
