Over the weekend, we had one of those special moments that reminds me why I love being part of footy and its community.

The vs. game, Souths held a free entry day, with a big crowd of around 2,500+ and covering it live.
I got to do what I do best - be infront of a Microphone as MC. One of our highlights is the three-quarter time "Catch Kingston" segment—our mascot run. This time, with the massive turnout, we had nearly 100 kids racing to catch Kingston.

As the kids lined up for their 100m dash, I leaned into the improvisation, narrating the run like a race caller—injecting that extra energy and fun. Trying to organize 100 kids, narrate on the fly, and then pick a winner when they all swarmed our mascot (and his Panther mask!) was a challenge, but the kind I thrive on. The moment was so big that showed a replay on the broadcast.

Moments like this remind me how invaluable it is to think on my feet and connect with the crowd—even when it's hundreds of excited kids. It’s a privilege to bring that energy to 2,500 people and make it memorable for them. I’ve even got some footage of the segment—it’s these moments that make game day special!
