In this lecture, Dr. Iason Eleftherios Tzouriadis will trace the development of this sword type using material from art, museum collections, armourial registers and period accounts.

From its origins and technical evolution to its role in the hands of Venetian troops and Balkan mercenaries, the schiavona reveals a rich blend of military function and cultural identity. A lecture for those interested in both the blade and the stories behind it.
