"Walking among these strange new surroundings, I keep wondering, are they just as suspicious of me as I am of them? I leave parts of myself behind wherever I go, and now I’m reassembling. Looking in the mirror, I can’t seem to make out the shape of my own face, but there’s something moving behind me. Canvas creeps around the corner, lights are flickering. Plaster peels off the walls, with cracks spreading wide like pulsating veins. I turn around and I realize: This space is not actually empty, it is filled with absence. My feet are suddenly wet, my body soaking up with water. But I’m not drowning, I branch out, my socks grow into a beautiful tree. My ribcage has fallen out, yet I still feel so very alive. The walls of this house, they hold my breath."

Group exhibition: 'Riot within'

Life is a riot of emotions - fear being one of the most powerful among them. Sparked through a variety of factors, such as social injustices and distorted realities, this intense feeling might manifest in panic attacks, phobias or the fear of not fitting in, up to the point of an enduring state of angst. Dealing with the uneasy side of life can be overwhelming at times, overcoming or submitting to fear seemingly the only choices we have. The exhibition “Riot within” shows artworks that approach different aspects of fear, and explore ways of confronting and dealing with it.

With artworks by Stefan Kainbacher, Roman Prostejovsky, Chucky Schuster and Manfred Unger; curated by Anemona-Ligia Spanache.

From the 15th to 23rd of September we will show the 2nd cycle of our exhibition „Tempor[e]alities“ at the space at Währinger Str. 128, 1180 Vienna
