A joint ORD-FAO Commitment to Climate Resilience and Food Security:
On 20 December 2025, in Musakhil District of Khost Province, the Organization for Relief Development ( ORD ), in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ( FAO ), launched a preliminary assessment (initial survey) for planned agricultural support interventions.
The assessment aims to identify 510 eligible households to receive summer crop seed packages, and 1,300 additional vulnerable and deserving households will be identified to receive vegetable seed packages, micro-greenhouses, and solar dryers. In total, the interventions will support 1,810 farming households, including 1,428 female-headed households, across 12 districts of Khost Province.
The assessment is being conducted with the participation and close observation of representatives from the Department of Agriculture and ARM, ensuring transparency, community acceptance, and adherence to established selection criteria.
Through this inclusive approach, ORD/FAO seeks to promote sustainable agriculture, enhance food security, and provide timely livelihood support to vulnerable communities across Khost Province.

ORD and UNDP Launch Road Rehabilitation to Reconnect Communities in Kunar’s Mazardara Valley
01 December 2025 – Kunar, Afghanistan
The Organization for Relief and Development (ORD), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and with generous funding from the Government of Korea, has officially launched the expansion and rehabilitation of a critical 15-kilometer access road in the Mazardara Valley of Noorgal District, Kunar Province. This initiative is part of the Rapid Response Facility (RRF) – REVIVE PIP Afghanistan project under the broader Post-Earthquake Recovery and Rebuilding Program.
The inauguration ceremony was held in close coordination with Kunar provincial authorities and community elders. The Governor of Kunar Province and the District Head of Noorgal formally addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of the project for restoring mobility, improving access to essential services, and supporting local livelihoods in the earthquake-affected areas.
What the Project Delivers
• Rehabilitation and widening of 15 km of road
• Construction/repair of 3 culverts for better drainage
• 210 Cash-for-Work jobs for affected community members
• Strong community engagement to ensure lasting impact
As reconstruction begins, ORD is working closely with local communities to complete the project swiftly and safely, ensuring the road supports both immediate relief efforts and long-term development.
The rehabilitated road will significantly enhance local connectivity, enabling faster delivery of humanitarian assistance, smooth transportation to schools and medical facilities, and improved access to markets—contributing to resilience, stability, and renewed hope for the affected communities.
